Criteria considered for school delays and cancellations:
All sending school districts collaborate in the decision to delay or cancel school along with their perspective transportation contractors. When looking at current weather conditions we take into account the current precipitation and temperature as well as forecasted precipitation and temperature. As a general rule of thumb, we will delay or cancel school if the sustained temperature is -20 degrees F or below, including wind chill. Our bus contractor drives various roads in our district to get a first-hand look at driving conditions. We also consult with PADoT and township officials regarding weather forecasts and road conditions as well as neighboring school districts outside of Venango County. There is no exact science in making the call to delay or cancel school. We obtain as much information as we can regarding the weather and road conditions and make the best decision possible with that information. The safety of our students and staff is always our first priority.

Cancellation and Delay Notification
Cranberry Area School District uses local television, radio stations and news media as well as our own website and Facebook page as the primary ways to notify you of events, emergencies, school delays and cancellations.
In addition, as a courtesy extended to parents/guardians of Cranberry Area School District we utilize automated notification calls through the SchoolMessenger system using telephone and email addresses we have on file for Cranberry Students.
